Drones and Efek Walpurgis present… liquid breaks for the end of days! Six tracks ranging from midtempo lounge drumfunk to apocalyptic industrial acid, with detours through various nineties and aughts electronic scenes, repurposed here as a tributory collage of the artists’ forgotten and misremembered pasts. These tracks mark the beginning of a collaboration between the two New-York-via-London producers — though produced separately, the tracks were mixed and sequenced cooperatively, and hearken a new direction for both artists, whose backgrounds range from experimental acousmatics to (anti)social party muzak. Released on cassette for maximum cognitive dissonance, “(source:code)” is pure HAUNTOLOGITECHNO for fans of the Prodigy, Pierce Brosnan-era Bond, and the Xerox mind that never jams.
