Boul God is proud to present Punishing Yourself, Making Amends, the debut full-length from New York electronic journeyman Efek Walpurgis. The album is an 8-track safari tour through the undergrounds of London and Los Angeles, where Efek was raised by turns and was exposed to the litany of second-wave subgenres and regional styles that inform his music. At its most danceable, PY, MA sees breakcore beats and acid synths crash against no-input harsh noise and grinding guitars to evoke the humid claustrophobia of rainy nights spent clubbing alone. But for every lad-friendly two-step, Efek also delivers a haunting ambient portrait of the cities that raised him; it is in these tracks, those times before, after, and between the raves, where Efek expresses his Self most earnestly. For fans of turn-of-the-century electronic ephemera, Serial Experiments Lain, and urban magick.
